The wait time for non-urgent appointments may vary throughout the year and it is advisable to ring the office to ask what this is at the time.

Generally a non-urgent appointment is considered to be low back pain, thoracic pain and neck pain without leg or arm symptoms. Evidence shows that most episodes of acute low back, thoracic or neck pain (under 3 months) not associated with serious diseases and conditions will resolve with analgesia, reassurance and some modification of activity.  Any serious conditions will be excluded by your general practitioner.  Individuals with persistent back or neck pain that is not on an improvement trajectory after a few weeks may wish to consult a specialist.

The wait time for an urgent appointment is within 2 business days on request of a general practioner.

An urgent appointment is considered to be back pain with associated severe leg pain and/or weakness  or neck pain with severe arm pain and/or weakness. These symptoms imply compression of a nerve or nerves and review by a specialist is advised.
